Our WiFi HotSpots Finder is an RF wireless device operating on 2.4GHz that detects WiFi 802.11b and 802.11b/g signals, it can capture WiFi signal to avoid other interference such as 2.4GHz cordless telephone, A/V sender, Microwave ovens and Bluetooth device.

Note: The WiFi signal strength level does not mean that the user can properly link to the detected WiFi service. The linking quality still depends on the congestion of the WiFi service in the Hotspot, the working condition of the computer, and the actual interface between the WiFi site and the computer.

Getting Started

Setting Up

Open the batteries cover on the back and insert the batteries.

Notes on battery

  • Do not insert batteries into the WiFi HotSpots Finder in the wrong direction.
  • Do not use different types of batteries together, or mix old and new batteries.
  • If you do not use the WiFi HotSpots Finder for a long period of time, remove the batteries to avoid possible damage from battery corrosion.
  • Replace the batteries with new ones when you see the Power indicator blinks in red.
  • This device is software-free, there is no software required for this device, nor does the

    user needs to switch on the computer. Now, your WiFi HotSpots Finder is ready to go.

    Understanding the Button & Indicators

            The WiFi HotSpots Finder has the following button and indicators:

    Detect button

     Click this button to find out if you are under the WiFi signal coverage area. (Verification mode)

     Press and hold to know the signal strength.
    (Moving search mode)

    Signal indicator

     Five LEDs tell the user the signal strength (e.g., One green LED is low signal; five green LEDs mean very good signal)

     If there is no WiFi signal or the signal is too weak, the lowest positioned LED lights up in red.

    Power indicator

     When you press the �detect� button, the WiFi HotSpots Finder will start checking for the WiFi signal and this indicator blinks in green. This means operation is normal.

     The power indicator blinks in red when you press the �detect� button, it means the battery is low and you need to replace it.

    Using WiFi HotSpots Finder

            There are two operation modes with this device: Verification mode and Search mode:

     

    Verification Mode

    Click the �detect� button, the power indicator blinks in green and the device begins to verify if there is a WiFi signal in the vicinity.

     If there is a WiFi signal, the signal strength indicators will light up in green (1-5 LEDs).

     If there is no WiFi signal or the signal is too weak, the lowest positioned LED lights up in red.

    Note: The LED(s) remains lit up for 2-3 seconds to show the verification results.

    Moving Search Mode

    After confirmation of WiFi signal by verification mode, if you are under WiFi signal coverage, you may press and hold the �dectect� button, moving slowly, the search mode will show you the strength of most 2.4GH signal within that area. However, after you release the �detect� button, WiFi HotSpots Finder will start automatically verifying the signal strength is WiFi or not, and show up as Verification mode.

    Note: Each searching mode operation, the longest operation time is 20 seconds. If you want to resume searching again, please release the �detect� button and start pressing again.
